The University Grants Commission (UGC) has increased the difficulties of IGNOU by issuing a list of distance learning institutes and courses operated there. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers about 50 regular courses, excluding the certificate and diploma course. But, the UGC has released a list of only 42 courses of IGNOU, which has created confusion among the students.
According to the instructions of the UGC on 9th August, if any remote educational institution is operating the course without the approval of the All India Technical Education Council affiliated with the affiliate or course, then that course will not be valid. The UGC has also released a list of institutes giving away distance education and its courses there. There are no other popular courses, including MCA, BEd, run by IGNOU. IGNOU professor Kapil Kumar has questioned the UGC. He says that MCA is operating in IGNOU since 1990, BSc Nursing is a major course. There is a large number of admissions in this. It is operated since 1994. Bachelor of Tourism has been operating since 1994. Students from here have been working in many places today. This decision of UGC is not correct.
Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, said that all our courses are accredited by the respective regulatory bodies and the relevant documents have been submitted to the UGC for consideration. All the certificates and diploma programs provided by the Indira Gandhi National Open University are valid and will continue to be made available to them further.
